This week, ARRIS attended the NAB Show in Las Vegas, showing off the latest and greatest in broadcast television. TVNewsCheck offered a recap of the show, noting that the television industry and NAB are positioning television broadcasters for future success. Multichannel News highlighted Ultra HD/4K as a focal point of the show, calling the technology the “next big thing,” although the rest of the television ecosystem is still catching up.

In other news, Rapid TV News shared findings from the IHS Technology Professional Video Research practice, revealing the global market for broadcast equipment and services -- in which ARRIS is a key player -- reached $61 billion in 2013. According to FierceCable, the worldwide IPTV market is also growing, with the Market Intelligence & Consulting Institute projecting that overall IPTV subscriber numbers will grow to 128 million by the end of 2014.

Additionally, Advanced Television discussed growth in home network penetration, which is expected to climb to 33.2 percent by 2018 due largely to continued spread of broadband services and demand for multiscreen video.
