This week, several outlets, including Multichannel News, highlighted the announcement that the ARRIS E6000 next-gen network access platform will be used by SK Broadband to deliver 1 Gbps broadband service and capacity support to the South Korean company’s 2.6 million IPTV customers.
Separately, Digital TV Europe included video interviews of ARRIS’s Steve McCaffery, senior vice president – EMEA, and Cornel Ciocirlan, chief technology officer – EMEA, on the future of WiFi in the connected home and how DOCSIS® 3.1 is helping cable stay competitive with fiber.
The Wirecutter recommended the ARRIS SURFboard®SB6141 modem for consumers looking to purchase their own, also noting that it is the most popular and well-reviewed cable modem in its class.
In other industry news, Rapid TV News reported focus group data from Sanford Bernstein which indicated that, while most participants subscribe to over-the-top (OTT) content services, the diversity of programming and convenient access of traditional pay-TV are keeping them from cutting the cord.
Finally, CED highlighted new findings from Leichtman Research Group that show that 81 percent of households surveyed in the U.S. have at least one HDTV, a steep increase from 46 percent four years ago.
