CommScope Introduces New Quieter 52 Universal Cabinet Series

July 29, 2007 HICKORY, N.C.

CommScope, Inc., (NYSE: CTV), a world leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks, announces the introduction of its cutting-edge, quieter 52 Universal series enclosures designed for residential applications. The engineering design, which focuses on vital areas of acoustic and thermal performance, takes the CommScope flagship 52 Series cabinets to the "next level" in outdoor enclosure evolution.

Advantages of the New 52 Universal Cabinet Series:

-- Enclosure deployments (deeper in the community) require quieter cabinets. The 52 Universal series accommodates this need by using variable speed fan technology with creative airflow path management. In concert with acoustic dampening packages, the results reveal acoustic performance levels below 50 decibels.

-- At the same time, high bandwidth services and their associated thermal loads require efficient enclosure thermal management that the 52 Universal series enclosures amply deliver. The patented heat exchanger technology significantly increases thermal management capability over the legacy CommScope 52 Series and pushes CommScope further to the forefront in high performance thermal design.

-- The 52 Universal series is offered in two different sizes. The 52BU Universal enclosure measures 46" wide X 63" tall X 26" deep with a single bay of 44" for 23-inch equipment rack space. For larger service needs the 52EU Universal enclosure measures 46" wide X 63" tall X 53" deep with dual back-to-back bays of 44" for 23-inch equipment rack space. Both cabinets have enhanced protection and splice storage capacities.

-- Both enclosures are fully sealed, modular designs that are easily pad mounted and designed to accommodate growth. The 52BU Universal can also conveniently be pole or wall mounted.

-- These designs provide superior environmental protection and security. The enclosures features durable, graffiti-resistant beige powder coat paint finish and integrated backup battery chamber with optional battery bases to augment reserve needs. Various alarms to detect such conditions as high temperature and intrusion can be factory wired. Fully sealed for maximum electronics protection, the enclosures are designed, tested and certified for GR-487 issue 2 and Zone 4 compliance.

"We believe the CommScope 52 Universal cabinets are the next phase in outdoor enclosure technology and are a wise choice in long term outside plant investment desired by service providers," said Ted Hally, executive vice president and general manager, Enterprise. "Through our Carrier group, CommScope has manufactured over 350,000 enclosures that have been installed worldwide."
