Company Momentum Drives Redwood Systems’ Expansion into Canada

Strategic Partnerships and Technology Certification Help Address Growing International Demand for Building-Performance Lighting Solutions
March 26, 2012 FREMONT, CA

Redwood Systems, the leading provider of building-performance lighting solutions, today announced that it has established a presence in the Canadian market by securing partnerships with national technology distributor Anixter and sales agencies TPL Lighting and CD/M2 Lightworks. Redwood has also received UL Canada certification of its products. Redwood is now well positioned to address the increasing need for building-performance lighting technologies in Canada.

Redwood has used its global agreement with Anixter, a leading global supplier of communications and security products, electrical and electronic wire and cable, fasteners and other small components, to secure distribution in Canada. The agreement provides Redwood with access to Anixter’s well established Canadian network of salespeople, technical resources and customers. Redwood’s DC-powered innovative lighting platform enables Anixter to introduce energy-efficient and sustainable solutions within its traditional structured cabling, physical security, and power and cooling product offering. In addition, Redwood’s partnership with sales agencies and dealers across the country open up a host of new growth opportunities.

“With Redwood’s Canadian UL certification complete, we look forward to establishing Redwood in the Canadian market,” said Jeff Hofstetter, Anixter’s Director of Marketing, Enterprise Cabling and Security Solutions in Canada. “The strength of the Redwood Systems lighting solution is in its ability to reduce energy consumption and to allow customers to monitor occupancy and thermal management by using structured cabling. We are extremely pleased and excited to be adding this unique product offering to our product portfolio.”

Redwood has earned UL certification in Canada (CUL) for its building-performance lighting products, signifying Redwood’s compliance with UL’s standardized safety and environmental requirements. The certification recognizes Redwood’s technology as a comprehensive solution for energy savings and building performance, as well as one that delivers on its promises of innovation, safety and compliance. Redwood has also achieved this certification in the United States.

“Our robust partner network in Canada will help us pursue opportunities in a fast-growing market,” said Dave Leonard, CEO of Redwood Systems. “We will leverage the brand recognition and reach of these partners to deliver building performance through lighting for commercial properties throughout the region. Our UL certification signifies that Redwood solutions stand up to rigorous industry standards.”
