New-Look CommScope Energized for International CTIA WIRELESS 2011

March 21, 2011 HICKORY, N.C.

A new corporate identity, three expert panelists, and a potentially award winning solution are among what CommScope, a global leader in infrastructure solutions for communication networks, will unveil at this year’s International CTIA WIRELESS 2011® trade show and conference, taking place March 22-24 at the Orange County Convention Center, Orlando, Florida.

“This is an exciting time for CommScope as we embark on the next phase of the company’s growth as a private company and as the global economy continues to rebound,” said Ted Hally, chief commercial officer, CommScope. “The introduction of our new corporate identity is a piece of that future, helping us tell a more unified story with clarity across the many markets and geographies we serve.”

New icons symbolizing the three primary market segments served by CommScope today—broadband (cable TV), enterprise and wireless—and the company’s new logo will adorn the CommScope booth (#1831). The brand makeover is the first for CommScope since the mid-1990s and follows the acquisitions of Avaya’s Connectivity Solutions division in 2003 and Andrew Corporation in 2007.

Reflecting the company’s expertise in numerous industries, three CommScope representatives will participate in separate panels at co-located CTIA events:

  • Monday, March 21, 9:00–10:15 a.m. EDT in Room S320 E/F—Jerry Garrett, vice president and general manager, Carrier and Cabinet Solutions, will join the “View from the Top” Panel A at DiversityNXT, offering insight into how supplier diversity can be a strategic solution in supply chains.
  • Tuesday, March 22, 3:40–4:30 p.m. EDT in Rooms S210 BC and S210 DE of the South Hall, Level II—Matt Melester, senior vice president and general manager, Wireless Innovations, will join “The Ins and Outs of Deploying Campus and Venue DAS” panel at the Tower Technology Summit. Panelists will speak about real life experiences with the fastest growing segment of the distributed antenna system (DAS) industry: campuses and venues.
  • Wednesday, March 23, 3:10–4:00 p.m. EDT in Rooms S210 BC and S210 DE of the South Hall, Level II—Philip Sorrells, vice president, Wireless Site Solutions, will join the “Optimizing Towers for 4G” panel at the Tower Technology Summit, presenting unique solutions to capacity demands and site limitations for wireless networks.

CommScope also has a finalist in the CTIA 2011 Emerging Technology Awards, which celebrates the most innovative wireless products and services. OneBase InSite® Connect, a comprehensive remote site control and monitoring solution, is nominated in the Green Telecom and Smart Energy Solutions category. InSite Connect™ enables wireless operators to manage all base station sites across their networks, translating into significant operating and energy efficiencies.

CTIA attendees can examine InSite Connect and SmartBeam, the agile network base station antenna solution, in the Emerging Technology Zone showcase. Winners of the CTIA 2011 Emerging Technology Awards will be announced Wednesday, March 23 at 2:00 p.m. EDT at the Exhibit Innovations Stage, booth 4295.

CommScope will highlight other solutions in its booth including the recently announced “PIM Happens—Just Not on Our Watch” campaign, a five-level program for limiting the destructive impact of passive intermodulation (PIM) in wireless networks. CommScope staff can also explain the company’s numerous Copper Alternative Solutions for decreasing and preventing destructive copper metal theft at cell sites.

“We have a new look and feel, but one thing that has not changed is our commitment to supplying innovative and reliable solutions to our customers in the wireless marketplace,” said Hally. “More than ever before, CommScope is ready to help our customers connect and evolve at home, at work, and on the go.”
