Wickedly Fast Wi-Fi Network to arrive in Downtown San Jose

SUNNYVALE, CA — March 11, 2013 – Ruckus Wireless, Inc. (NYSE: RKUS) today announced that it is joining the City of San José, CA and SmartWAVE Technologies this Thursday, March 14, 2013 at 12 noon at the San José City Hall Plaza to officially cut the cord to kick off Downtown San José’s free, Wickedly Fast Wi-Fi Network during a launch celebration and press conference being held at the Plaza.

Background:
The City of San José will be leveraging advanced Wi-Fi technology for a variety of uses including free public access and supporting revenue-generating City services. As a result, the City will operate one of the fastest and finest Wi-Fi networks in the U.S. The Wickedly Fast Wi-Fi Network will be accessible through the entire downtown core from E. St. John St. to the north, portions of Balbach St. and Viola Ave. to the south, N. 6th St. to the east, and Almaden Blvd. to the west. The new Network will also benefit the downtown parking infrastructure, primarily the pay-to-park meters, by improving the speed by which time-sensitive transactions occur. It will also connect City facilities by providing high-speed alternatives to traditional telecommunications circuits.
